The Purpose of The Peaceful Family Fund
The Peaceful Family Fund was established in 2018 to assist eligible families with expenses related to the long-term treatment of behavioral and psychiatric issues in adolescents ages 17 and younger. It is a partnership that began with the founder and the funder – the Blue Dove Foundation and the Jewish Interest Free Loan Association (JIFLA) of Georgia.
In 2023, the program transitioned from the Blue Dove Foundation to Jewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta (JF&CS) to offer additional family services and support through the Horwitz-Zusman Child & Family Center.
Mental healthcare is a necessity, but it can be extremely expensive. High costs can pose a barrier to access and keep children from receiving much-needed treatment. The Peaceful Family Fund exists to help families who are the most in need. Through a combination of grants and interest-free loans, we provide each accepted family with up to $50,000 towards their child’s in-patient treatment and step-down programs during their qualifying years. Our goal is to help the children reach a point where they can reintegrate back into their home lives.
Grants and interest-free loans may be used to cover the following expenses:
- Psych/Educational Testing and Evaluations
- Educational Consultant Fees
- Program Participation Fees
- Family Travel to Select Programs (e.g., hotels, flights, meals)
- Aftercare/Post-Care Therapy
